Settings backup

Here you have suggestion for Supercopier and Ultracopier

Settings backup

Postby blue_lightning » Wed Jan 29, 2014 3:45 am

Every time I install a new version of Ultracopier, I have to manually adjust the settings of it.

A feature that allow me to backup my settings, so I can bring it to another computer or use after an Ultracopier clean uninstall would be nice.

And BTW, why does every upgrade keep throwing me error with the catchcopy64.dll thing ? I know it's nothing (cause after a reboot everything is fine afterward) but that still worries me.

What version do you use? In my case no problem.
You can use the portable version. Keep the settings into a file near the .exe, it's useful to have same settings when you have it on usb key.
Because this Windows file explorer plugin remain locked at the uninstall...

I have just reinstalled Ultracopier again. All my configurations were gone after the uninstall. And I can't get the "Display the OS warning" to remain ticked; reopening the main window and it's gone again.

I don't use the portable version because there's only the x86 version, my OS is x64. And since this is a copy handler, it would integrate better with the system if I use the installer...I think. Searching the wiki for the difference between version (normal/portable/static/etc.) gave me no result. The wiki is really outdated with limited information on the options and settings...

Really sorry for this, but this topic has somehow started to turn into a Q&A/bug report instead of a feature request

I have found the bug, you use the installer, during the desinstallation, the user have ask to me to remove the settings.
Not into this version but into the next version (one more reset), this will be fixed.
You can use the portable version, it's 100% compatible with the 64Bits (I use it). No change is you use the installer or not.
You are free to complete the wiki, I have no more time to do it. My target it's not be alone to do this part.

Do you remember that only members of "User" group can edit the wiki ? And since you have disabled the Register feature, right now only you can edit it yourself.
But seriously, I think you should find an English & French-speaking developer to help you with if you want the most up-to-date wiki.

Yes, I had disabled this feature due to the spam.

Yeah, without a proper and extensive bot filter it's a disaster... If you can't find a good programmer, I guess this would not work.
