Crash on files over 4.7gb in size.

Post by Rob_Redding » Thu May 08, 2014 8:12 pm

Studio Backups: I have been using Ultracopier to move sound and drum library backup files from one NAS to another.

Some of the files are *.iso backups of 5-8gb in size.

I have copied more than 2 Tb , but every time ultracopier hits a file above 4.7Gb it crashed.(and I had to revert to Synkron to finish the large files and verify transfers).

It crashes gracefully with a message from the library informing me that the app has made an unusual request to terminate.

I will test again later with the 64 bit os and app.
I was using Win7 32bit. Ultracopier 32bit.

thanks Rob.

(Other than that its been fantastic...saved me days.)

I use NAS everyday without problem for file of size of 16GB. No problem with more than 2TB with millions of files.
Then the unique way to diag it is gdb (complicated for novice).
Some NAS can generate problem, but I have never listen crash.
Many the process crash due to lack of memory. Ultracopier have full unicode support, what that's do it some memory hungry. The 32Bits version will crash after 2GB memory used, and 64Bits after all your memory used.
